What ever floats your boat.

Have been really busy lately so haven't done much birding. Went to Newlyn today for the Iceland Gull, then on to Drift reservoir and Sennen. We did manage a couple of hours on
Friday around Par and got the Bar-headed Goose on the lake.
Don't imagine for one minute that it's wild.

Couldn't resist taking a shot of the Sennen Lifeboat. Have a lot of admiration for what they do.
Everything digiscoped by John except for the Bar-headed Goose.

  2. Well for the time you got, this is a beautiful psot. I love the bar-headed goose pictures a lot as well as the iceland gull and the little grebe! Ther is not too much around here at the moment, so you are quite lucky to get so much to see.

  4. John, digiscoping is not always as easy as it sounds and I am always astonished with the quality of your images. Three separate elements must come together in the creation of your photographs. Technical proficiency, fine light and an identifiable personal vision. I take my hat off to you!

  5. Well I have to go along with mike Anders. Outstanding digiscoping. I am going to have a try at this again. You two are the hardest working retired couple I know, ex S.A.S I reckon.

  10. Great stuff John. I agree with Mike too. DS'ing is not easy, but there are times I really wish I had got the hang of it. I may give it another try in the summer. Lovely images. The Iceland Gull shots are fab.

  13. Great shots from the master digiscoper. As you well know I tried it and although I could get worthwhile images shooting out of the kitchen into the garden I could not replicate it in the field. The main reason was I could not see the back screen clearly enough to focus correctly.by the time I had it right the bird had flown. So when I look at your images I agree with Mike and others that you are a master of the art. And boy!! you are so fast. Well done J & S.

  15. Can't pick a favourite out of this set John, I agree with most comments digiscoping is a different style and hard to achive, but you succeed every time. But then I like the Bar Headed Goose, well done Sue your giving him a run for his money.

  17. Thanks everyone, glad you like the shots.
As you know we don't think of ourselves as photographers, but birders who like to take pictures. Birding is our first love.
By the way, we are not retired yet, unfortunately we still have a few years to go.

  18. Beautiful pictures. I love the Bewick's swans as two years ago I took pictures of several in Idaho.

  19. Nice shots of the BN Grebe and we get the odd Bar Headed Goose occasionally, but I haven't seen one now for a couple of years now. It is usually with a load of Greylag.

  21. Oh dear! I was positive I had commented on this post, I have definitely looked at it before, I think I must have been interrupted.

Anyway, the photos are stunning! It is difficult to pick favourites but I do particularly like the swan and the Bar-headed Goose.

  22. Your photography is excellent! You really captured great, color, lighting and detail. You also reminded me that sometimes you are better off trying to get a great picture of a more common bird rather than a lousy photo of a rare bird.
