Dragonflies

In all the years that we have been birding, we have only taken the odd Dragonfly when it just happened to be there, we have not, until the last 2 years gone looking for them. Recently, Sue in particular has developed a passion for them, and can't wait for the summer. When we think of all the shots we could have had in past years, espescially abroad, we could kick ourselves.
We thought some of our shots from here and abroad might brighten up the page.

  1. Some did you say? These are many, but they are all superb! What a diversity... If only we had one around ;-)

  2. Lovely selection. I have a soft spot for them too. I read recently that they were on earth before dinosaurs (300 million years ago)!

  11. You have a wonderful variety and all are excellent shots. They are not easy subjects. I too just started photographing them a couple of years ago, but our varieties here in Alaska are very limited.

  15. A cracking selection with one or two I haven't seen yet. I also wonder what I may have missed but I'm sure Sue will find plenty to get up close and personal with when the sun shines.

BTW Sue, did you ever manage to sort out the albums?

Strange to think that I used to be afraid of them! This year I will really be concentrating on them and Butterflies and leave the Birds to John. Sue

Frank, I printed off all your instructions but it is such a big job that I keep putting it off, I will get around to it eventually!!

  18. Hi JR and Sue.
Lovely Dragonfly pictures. It is good to see you photographing other wildlife like these, and what a great job you are doing.
I saw and photographed my first ever Beautiful Demoiselle's down your way last summer on a reserve near Penzance.
