A Mixed Bag.

Just a few things from over the week-end. All the birds were taken at Windmill Farm, including the Whinchat which was distant but nice to see.

There are a few colonies of Stick Insect around our way, this juvenile was taken in our

daughter's garden.

These Dragonfly Nymphs were taken in a Goldfish Pond at Heligan Gardens.

  5. A great mixed bag John. That Stick insect takes me back 45 years, when I used to keep them as pets as a kid.

  11. Great selection John. You were lucky to see the Lizard in your previous post. I never saw one in 15 years of wildlife watching.

  17. Lovely photos!
    Nice surprise!
Your dragonflies are very much the same as ours, how amazing!
I regonize a Quadrimaculata eating an insect, and the red damsel looks very much like our Pyrrhosoma nymphula!
    Welle done!
    Cheers!

  19. It's not until you try to take images of Whinchat you realise how wary they are of human approach, so sell dome with those pictures. I got a few in Menorca so will post soon.

  21. Hi, unfortunately your Dragonfly Nymphs are actually diving beetle larvae, presumably Great Diving Beetle if they're big enough to be mistaken for dragonflies, but I'm not sure that you can get a positive ID from photographs.
