This male Honey Buzzard is a bit of a cheat really, as although it is not captive ( it was saved by a local cafe owner) it roams quite freely around the cafe. It could fly off if it wanted and probably will when older and tempted by a young female.
The young Peregrines were taken at quite a distance, so they're a bit grainy, finishing off a Golden Oriole!
These Wasp Spiders are interesting. A lot lighter and less yellow that ours they were an unexpected find for us. (well, John really)
This Robber Fly is feeding on an Ermine Moth. The red Ants below are feeding on Aphids.
Note the small Fly on the Lizard's nose, he's taking a chance!
Hi Both another cracking set of images, that Honey Buzzard is a stonker. Love the Macro shots as well, looks like you had plenty to keep you busy. If you want to have a look around this area one Friday (not so many dog walkers during the week)give me a ring on the Thurs evening and I'll take you around.
More superb images John and Sue. Really inspiring. The Honey Buzzard story is touching. Frightening to think of a Peregrine taking out something as exotic to us as a Golden Oriole!!
Hola!!!.. Gran variedad de imágenes, con buen color.. Y capturas en buenos momentos como las de los insectos.. Muy bella la Garcilla cangrejera.. Y divertidas las imágenes de la rapaz con la mesa de fondo.. Qué iba a merendar???.. Un saludo!!!..
WOW! A very interesting post and great photos! I haven't visited your blog for a while being soooo busy!! A great opportunity for exquisite shots, this Honey Buzzard! The Mantis alone would have deserved a whole series of shots! It is an absolute beauty! Well done, John!
