Close Encounters

These are just a few images taken over the last week.
Best experience of the year so far-this Squirrel unexpectedly
climbed up my leg and took a nut out of my hand.
There's a joke there somewhere. John

  4. Wow, there's a mixed bag of species! Great images John.

I can relate to your squirrel encounter. Beside the lake at Davos in Switzerland one winter I had a pocket full of hazlenuts. I sat on a rock and the Red Squirrels were coming and taking them from my hand (ever so delicately and gently) and then sitting beside me on my camera bag, eating the nuts. I also had a Great Tit take a nut from me here. Almost as amazing were the Nutcrackers that were coming for the nuts. They wouldn't get much closer than a metre, however - fabulous birds!
