Spiders and Butterflies

Have finally persuaded the editor (Sue) to put a couple of Spiders up. In the first set of shots you can see the extra long front legs of the Crab Spider wrapped around his prey, which in turn has made a vain, and almost successful attempt at escaping.

Have never seen a Footman or a Common Blue holding their wings like this.

I didn't realise that the Peacock is almost black underneath.
I am amazed at the difference in colour of these two Gatekeepers. After checking the book,
I think the darker one is a Male.

  8. Excellent photos! The ones of the crab spider were very interesting as I had seen a dead spider on one of my plants a few weeks back that looked like that but I didn't know what it was.
