'Shear' Luck

Myself and my brother Chris paid a visit to St.Gothian Sands yesterday and a woman approached us, carrying this Manx Shearwater, which had landed exhausted at her feet.
She didn't know what it was and said she was taking it to the RSPCA.
The Kestrel was also taken at Gothian.






The rest were taken at Marazion.

    Wow first what a luck to see a shearwater like this!! I've only seen them with binocular!! Far, far away!!! And then the kestrel and stonechat pictures are awesome... Pure beauties both of them! I've seen the stonechat in France for the first time this summer.. Can you imagine?

    What a superb set of pictures. That first Kestrel, and the Stonechat are outstanding.

    Hi John.
    Fantastic set of photographs. I agree you do need luck but it takes a lot of skill to aquire it.Agree with Keith...the Kestrel and Stonechat are excellent .

    I read that a Manx shearwater had lived at least 55 years. Long life, i guess.

    I do hope the Manx Shearwater survives although I suppose we will never know! I love the Stonechat (gorgeous photo) and the Rock Pipit.

    Hi John and Sue Looks like you had a great weekend again, lovely post and great images and what a turnup with the Manx. Had a similar thing about 3 years ago, arrived at work one morning and the night shift boys were waiting for me with a shoe box, and inside was a Storm Petrel that had been blown inland and into the building during a gale. After a check up at the vets it was declared fit and released at Portreath.

    You have some spectacular shots here. The kestrel on the lichen-crusted brick wall is stunning. When I enlarged it, I just fell in love with that head-on shot.
