Romania 2009

Got back from Romania on Tuesday. John picked up some kind of virus (not Swine flu), he soldiered on till the end but has now been signed off work, so that took the shine off our Hols a little. I had real trouble with the camera so most of these shots are Johns. We would never have believed how difficult it is to get a shot of a Wallcreeper, so these are really only record shots. Had great views though and It was a lifer for us.

The Black Woodpecker wasn't much easier than the Wallcreeper.

  1. What a wonderful variety of birds you saw. I have never even heard of such a thing as a Wall Creeper. The in-flight one you got of him. Very nice series of photos.

  3. Well from the photos it seems you had a good trip despite John picking up a 'bug'. Similar birds to my trips to Bulgaria, including Wallcreeper (but I didn't get any pics!)

Hope you get well very soon. Cheers Frank.

  4. John - You started this blog with one of my top 3 wanted lifers aka Painted Snipe. You've now added a second of my top three- Wallcreeper. The missing one is Spoonbilled Sandpiper. Away you go....

Excellant pictures from what looks to be a very enjoyable holiday.

Simon, not sure where you see Spoonbilled Sandpiper but we are thinking of China next year so who knows.
We haven't touched the colours on the Horse and Cart, aren't they brilliant.
