Landsend

Paid a short visit to Land's End this afternoon hoping for the odd rarity but all was
quiet on the Western Front. There were plenty of Whitethroats though and this handsome Pheasant showing off, which we wouldn't usually bother with but beggars can't be choosers.

This poor Rabbit has just managed to shake free from a Stoat. They were disturbed by a walker and the Stoat ran off, too quick for me to get a photo. Unfortunatly he has a big bite to the back of his neck and when he tried to run he kept falling over sideways. He did eventually get into the undergrowth so he may survive.

  1. Nice photos. Poor bunny. I don't know what a Stoat is, so what is it? I've never heard of that before.

  2. I was thinking the same thing. Stoat..guess I need to look it up. The nice thing about following blogs from other parts of the world, is all the different birds etc you get to see.

  6. Pheasants are one of my favourites, love seeing them about. Good captures of the Whitethroat too.
Sounds like the rabbit had a narrow escape.

  7. Oh what a shame it is that the Stoat missed the meal but maybe he came back and finished it. I mean to say it is too bad for the rabbit and having to suffer the consequences of the bite.

You have a nice blog and I am happy to meet it for the first time. I will try to get back here.

  8. Lovely whitethroat images and a pity you missed the action with the rabbit and stoat. Thanks for the Orange Tip advise, please do that if I make an ID mistake.

  9. The pheasant photos are so colorful. Poor little rabbit. I had to look up what a stoat was. A weasel doesn't seem that much bigger than a rabbit, but everyone's got to eat. I once saw a rat bite a rabbit.
