Spiders and Butterflies

Have finally persuaded the editor (Sue) to put a couple of Spiders up. In the first set of shots you can see the extra long front legs of the Crab Spider wrapped around his prey, which in turn has made a vain, and almost successful attempt at escaping.

Have never seen a Footman or a Common Blue holding their wings like this.

I didn't realise that the Peacock is almost black underneath.
I am amazed at the difference in colour of these two Gatekeepers. After checking the book,
I think the darker one is a Male.

Quick trip to Stithians.

Not much time for anything this week, I've been on nights.
I did manage a quick trip to Stithians reservoir and took these.
The Moths I've just picked up here and there.

Back with the Birds. (and Butterflies)

Over the past couple of days we have visited Marazion Marsh, Hayle Estuary, Swan Pool and Hell's Mouth and birds are still a bit thin on the ground. If you look at the last Egret shot you
can see the poor fish in his throat.
We think this is a Juvenile Robin, not quite sure about the white flash though.
According to the book these are Cinnabar caterpillars, wish we had taken a couple home to incubate into adults as we have yet to see a Cinnabar.
