WASP SPIDERS.

I have found 3 colonies of Wasp Spiders this year, a bit later than usual I think.
Editing these is not Sues favourite job!!  John

This Wasp Spider sitting on the edge a small envelope gives some indication of their size.
Some are quite large, espescially the females.

COMMON HAWKER, EATING PREY.

We went to Croft Pascoe plantation at the week-end and found several of the big Hawkers. They kept landing on our backs which made Sue very nervous even though she loves Dragonflies.
We also saw our first Graylings of the year, one of which had a lot of white in it.
Afterwards we went on to Windmill Farm and saw 3 or 4 Clouded Yellow Butterflies,
again our first for the year.

BLACK DARTER.

We went to Breney Common and saw a few male Black Darters, no females around.
The female at the bottom was taken 3 weeks ago in the same area.
