Loads of Insects and Butterflies this week including our first Painted Lady of the year. Also some very attractive Moths around at the moment.
We think these two must be the same insect but at different stages.
I have never been very keen on Buddlea but next doors, hanging over our fence, has paid dividends. We have now been out and bought some Dwarf Buddlea which is not supposed to grow taller than 3 feet but with full size flowers. (time will tell) Sue
John went overseas on Monday into England and found a Jersey Tiger Moth. Today he found this strange looking Spider (for want of another word) hiding in a metal post. No Idea what it's called but it looks awful. Sue
That last spider is horrible. Shudder. The little chap above him is a sweetie, though - and that is saying something coming from an arachnaphobe. Stunning photography.
An amazing, and nicely varied, collection of superb images - well done!! If that last image is a spider, with eight legs sticking out sideways what are the two appendages facing forwards????
Thanks everyone, glad you enjoy them. As Montanagirl says, some of them look pretty scarey, even alien. Of course in reality most are not very big. Thanks to our daughter Hayley we can tell you that the last one is actually a type of Harvestman not indigenous to the UK. Sue
These are just amazing shots. Some of those creatures do look almost scary!
ReplyDeleteFabulous images guys, as always. Best wishes, Angie
ReplyDeleteFantastic set of images John, your macros are top notch
ReplyDeleteOnce again a massive blog. Great Macro photography.
ReplyDeleteSam
Your work with the macro is tremendous, it puts mine in the shadows of yours, Sue.
ReplyDeleteThat little jumping spider (I think that is what it is) is downright cute! Great photos all around.
ReplyDeleteFantastic collection again and I do love the spider with those very long legs.

ReplyDeleteHi Mum,
ReplyDeleteA bit of research (you can tell I'm bored) tells me that that last one isn't a spider, but a harvestman. This blog has a very similar picture of one:

This one's more like it actually:

Sensational macro photos of a wide variety of interesting little creatures. Love the detail. Your wonderful photographs inspire!
ReplyDeleteFantastic shots! I am very glad that these guys are all small. If they were big I think we would all be living in a state of terror all the time.
ReplyDeleteStunning macros again John and super editing Sue, see England came up trumps for once with that Jersey Tiger. Great Set
ReplyDeleteHOPE CU BOTH SOON.
Superb macros as always. Top stuff!

ReplyDeleteToo many great macro's. Such variety again - I know of the bug lady, now I think I know who the bug couple are!
