POPLAR HAWKMOTH

WE CAME DOWN THIS MORNING TO FIND A POPLAR HAWKMOTH
CLINGING TO A CALENDAR ON THE SIDE OF THE KITCHEN CABINET.
THE PICTURE IS OF OUR CAT GIBBS WHEN HE WAS A KITTEN.
NOT SURE WHERE THE MOTH CAME FROM OR WHY SHE
CHOSE TO LAY HER EGGS IN SUCH A STRANGE PLACE.
WE DID EVENTUALLY PUT HER OUTSIDE.

  5. What an amazing thing to happen, John and Sue!!! Have you got a suitable tree nearby to put the eggs on? Poplar, Sallow, Aspen or Willow would do.It would be interesting to watch the caterpillars develop!

  6. If I came downstairs to this discovery I would be a happy man! I hope that you are able to place the eggs somewhere that you can observe the ongoing development.
