Great Surprises down West.

We were in the car when we received a call from Monty to say that The Great White Egret was showing well at Marazion Marsh. We also got our first Wheatears of the year there. After spending an hour there we went on to Porthgwarra looking for Dotterel (didn't see it) but were surprised by a Red Kite flying through. Only managed a few distant shots but it was nice to see. Another surprise was the deer running down the opposite side of the valley.

Mum and 2 young, aaaah!

Judging by the size of the crop on this Buzzard, he must be taking food back to the nest.

  5. ...you have some beautiful images here. My fav is the second heron on the left. I love the curves of the bird in front of the lines of the grasses. It has a cool feel...

  10. Hi Folks Great to catch up with you yesterday morning and enjoyed the session with the Great White Egret. Must say John you have some fab shots of it as well as the Red Kite, so looks like the day was pretty good. Have not processed up my shots yet but I dont think they are a patch on yours.Went to Lands End this morning, best was a Merlin around the Complex 2 Whitethroat and 2 Ring Ouzels and about 40 Wheatears. Bumped into Royston and he had to go ene better with the first Sedge Warbler of the year. Hope you did not work to hard today cu soon.

  13. Great shot of the buzzard hunkered on the ground trying to swallow its prey with a leg, or something, still dangling from its beak. Nice sequence of the Great White Egret; actually like all of them.

  19. Hi JR and Sue.
I was wondering if you could help me. My wife and I are coming to Cornwall at the end of June for 2 weeks, staying near St Austell, and I was wondering if you could recommend any where nearby for wildlife. I have looked up some places, but as you live there you might know of some other sights that aren's so popular.I am not just into birds, its Butterflies etc.Cheers
Love the recent photo's of my favourite bird, the Red Kite.
