Those are probably the best Kestrel images I've ever seen, John! Fabulous.
It's strange that, whilst I'm virtually guaranteed to see a Kestrel every time I go out, my best sightings have been by the sea - somewhere I only probably get to two or three times a year!
Hi John: I have no idea how many times I have seen a kestrel hover, but certainly hundreds, but it never ceases to leave me gobsmacked. It is truly amazing how they maintain their position, while keeping their eyes fixed on the ground. Stationary gliding into the wind is the technical term I believe. Just a great series of images by any standard. The most overworked term these days (on this side of the Atlantic at least) is "awesome." Anything can be awesome in the vernacular of the day from the colour of your socks to the warmth of your coffee, but your images are AWESOME in the true sense of the word. They fill me with AWE. These are pictures to pass on to the grandchildren!
Great photos of the female in flight, a wonderful moment when the species allow us to get close enough! I admire your Fieldfare too, a bird I would really love to photograph!! Keep well and enjoy your week :)
Wow. An incredibly stunning photographs. So accurate. The magnificent bird.
ReplyDeleteGreat to find a bird such as this one. Love the 1st and 4th pic in particular.
