Don't you love it when friends do that? lol Tricky, looks too big for a Starling or Blackbird, too slim for a member of the Crow family, hmmmmm, got me beaten. Very curious now to know what it is.
Thanks everyone. After Simon posted this on Bird Forum, several people thought Albino Starling. We have also had Pied Cockatiel. Don't suppose we'll ever know for sure. Sue and John
Hi, Its definately not a shrike, the primary projection / tail ratio isnt right. Whatever it is its a cracker, pity there isnt a profile shot. I'd put money on it being a Starling ( though it looks like a Roller!!!!
Leusitic Blackbird? Cannot be albino as there is a lot black feathers in the mix too. Bill is too thin for a corvid? Amazing a sprawk hasn't seen it yet!
Tricky ... wild guess - a largely albino Starling?

ReplyDeleteStrange looking bird! I do not know what it is!
ReplyDeleteI'll go for a Great Grey Shrike, Usually if you get to see an albino crow the markings arer more random.
ReplyDeleteUnusally I haven't a clue what it is!!!
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with Adrian that it is a shrike. ~karen
