BRENEY COMMON

We had a great visit to Breney Common. The Black Darters and Purple Hairstreaks were
out and looking fresh but the Emperor Dragonflies were all looking a bit tatty.
Everything was either mating, laying or just emerged.

  1. Some great pics of some great species. Nice to see PH with open wings and Brimstones always seem to pose nicely!

  2. Fabulous images, John. I'm very envious of most of your sightings in this post, expecially the Purple Hairstreak, Emperor, and Silver-washed Frit (not Dark Green BTW). come to think of it - a Black Darter would be very welcome too!

I hope the coming weekend comes up trumps for you - - Richard

  8. Hi John,
What a great pleasure and surprise to discover these Black darters so rare in France, I know of only 2 or 3 sites and they are quite far from our place.
    These are brilliant shots.
I am hoping to see some in a week's time...
    Congratulations, enjoy our weekend!

  10. It seems to me that dragonflies are receiving more attention in recent times than was previously the case. Great shots.
