Buzzard is used interchangeably with Hawk. For example, what is generally referred to as a Rough-legged Hawk in North America, is called a Rough-legged Buzzard in the rest of the world. Buzzard is a purely colloquial term applied to New World Vultures in some parts of the United States.
Wow ..... truly a wonderful array of these birds. The green woodpecker is great to see. Buzzard, Fieldfare and Fieldfare, Wren, Yellow-browed finch and you have to shoot very nice and sharp. This really enjoy the birds.
That orchard seems to be a super place for intimate bird photos, John. I'm very impressed , particularly by the Green Woody - a usually extremely nervous bird in these parts.
Your YBW images are wonderful! Best wishes - - - Richard

ReplyDeleteI would have identified that buzzard as a hawk. Doesn't look like the turkey vultures we have around here :O)
